"A little more sugar please" and the tea started tasting like an extracted water from the sugar cane.
"A little more salt please" and I bet that food tasted exactly like the salty waters.
There's an Oliver Twist in us all
We often look for more.
Its never enough
Even when the signs read "enough"
We keep looking for a way to get things; even things we don't deserve our own way.
Jumping protocols
Breaking rules
Twisting situations to suit our desires
Displeasing God to please ourselves.
Hence commiting sin.
And we feel we are saved by our own power and smartness.
I often say this
We're In an era of grace
If we weren't a lot of us would have been struck dead as a result of our sins.
So many evil things we do in secret would have led to grave punishments.
And I marvel at the grace I enjoy.
The grace the world enjoys.. And then I remember the word "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus"
And the words of a popular hymn by Julia Johnston
"Marvelous grace of our loving Lord.
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.
CHORUS:
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Indeed where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
